It’s been a while since we’ve updated our travel blog. I know we are no longer traveling overseas, but it feels as though we’re still in travel mode, having been to Memphis twice as well as to Kansas City since landing back in Nashville. And even still, we are nomads for another season as we search for another part-time job for Lori and a place to live. We’ll keep posting on this space as a way to share our adventures here in Nashville, as well as any road trips or traveling that might pop up.
We’ll start by wishing you a (rather late) Merry Christmas!
After Christmas celebrations in both Nashville and Memphis, we drove on to Kansas City, Missouri to spend New Year’s visiting our good friends James & Julie (and baby Noah who will be born in May!). We also attended the OneThing conference hosted by the International House of Prayer. We joined 22,000 other people for four full days of anointed worship and inspiring speakers, all of it bathed in 24/7 prayer.
It was such an encouraging time of hearing God speak to us through other people and losing ourselves in fascination and worship of Jesus. We were also able to watch a special screening of a new documentary called Nefarious: Merchant of Souls. The writer/director/producer actually traveled to nations all over the world to document and present an encompassing look at human trafficking today. He interviews girls who have been sold into the sex slave trade or forced into prostitution. And this isn’t just a third world country kind of issue. Did you know women and children are abducted every day in the United States and are sold into sex slavery or forced into prostitution? It’s not generally accepted as polite dinner table conversation, but it needs to be talked about! It happens every day, maybe even in your city (Interstate 40 between Memphis & Nashville is a well-known trafficking corridor). Visit their website to check out the film and see how you can help.
After the conference we spent time with our friends playing games, watching American Pickers on Netflix, and making some incredible food. Here’s just one example: making homemade mozzarella cheese, then using it on grilled pizzas!
Now that we’re back in Nashville, we spend most days at any number of different coffeehouses or stores with free Internet (ah, it’s good to have that again!) working for our Green Pond Creative and winterstudios, ink. clients. I (Lori) am still searching for a part time job in the natural health / herbal / nutritional / fitness spheres before we can rent a house, but I’m super excited about getting certified in mid-February to teach BarreAmped fitness classes! If you’re in the area, stop by and take a class with me once I start teaching!
