Oh how I wish we were able to visit Raglan in the summer. The west coast beaches here are stunning, which is why they were featured in the iconic 1960s surf documentary Endless Summer. Turquoise blue water, wide expanses of sandy beaches, lush green bush walks, and tropical waterfalls are the norm. You can even surf on the longest left hand surf break in the world at Manu Bay.
We spent one night camping at Raglan Holiday Park, which wasn’t much to look at, but it was convenient to town when we wanted to get on the Internet at Vinnie’s after scarfing down massive burgers and kumara chips.
One side trip we were very glad we made was to Bridal Veil Falls. It’s definitely out of the way and off the beaten path. We debated whether we should even bother after a long day of driving. After all, did we really need another picture of another beautiful waterfall in New Zealand? It really could be an endless effort. But let me be the first to tell you–if you are ever in New Zealand, make the effort to see this waterfall! It’s worth it!
Even though it’s only early Spring here, I had to get my feet in the water. I’ve missed being in the ocean so badly! (How convenient that we scheduled four more days in Fiji before coming home.) This is at Ngarunui Beach.
