Back home, Drew and I occasionally volunteered at the Nashville Urban Harvest. We would help plant, weed, and water, and then enjoy the spoils at harvest time. We loved getting dirty and meeting new people, all while learning a thing or two.
Our hosts in Nelson told us about their community garden and suggested we swing by to check it out. We almost didn’t go since the day started to get late, but we were glad we made the effort to get there!
They really have a good thing going at the garden. Everything is set up around learning and sharing. As you’ll see in the video, they are very intentional about teaching different gardening methods. They also host workshops periodically and have a sales booth to sell seedlings, produce, fertilizer, etc.
No special events were on when we came by, but here is a little tour of the Nelson Community Garden.
