Oh, the ocean, how we love thee! Back in June we were blessed with an incredible trip to the Destin area with my Nana. Our condo afforded us the most gorgeous view of the beach, which we enjoyed every morning for breakfast and every afternoon for lunch. We stayed in the Sandestin area and drove into Blue Mountain and Seaside for dinner quite often. I would definitely recommend staying outside Destin itself – unless you particularly like throngs of overpriced souvenir shops and other flashy tourist traps.
We did drive into Destin one morning for a dolphin watching cruise. It was lovely to get out on the water and we were lucky enough to see a handful of dolphins – even one with a baby!
But we drove the opposite direction to eat dinner at several fantastic restaurants in and around Seaside. The Red Bar was one of our favorites, as well as this retro Airstream trailer turned juice bar – Raw & Juicy. We enjoyed fresh juice and smoothies while we strolled through the local shops and art galleries. Then we picked up dinner at the Barefoot BBQ food truck and listened to live music at the outdoor amphitheater.
We were very sad to say goodbye to the beach – as you could probably tell by our ‘sad to leave the beach’ faces. But we will be back! The sun and the waves are calling our names.
